PNS

SP Palamu YS Ramesh gave tips on security to be provided to the VIPs and the candidates in this left wing extremist hit Palamu district where the first phase of poll is slated to be held on April 10.

Ramesh sat with his officers for nearly two hours on Wednesday and had a threadbare discussion on issues ranging from security to VIPs to crowd control management to tracking and unearthing improvised explosive devices.

later, speaking with The Pioneer, Ramesh said that the security of the candidates and VIPs was the prime concern but hastens to add the candidate and VIPs should also extend cooperation to the administration. He said the VIPS and the candidates are advised to keep nearest police stations informed of their tour and programme but it has been found that this is not done or done at such a time when police find it difficult to rush in any help.

Palamau lok Sabha seat is a reserved for SCs. The BJP is all set to field the Ex DGP VD ram chances are that JMM may repeat Kameshwar Baitha the outgoing Palamau MP. Sources said the Naxals in Palamu announced the herald of election in their own way and it is by detaining the candidate or by burning poll campaign vehicle. Torching of poll vehicle is quite a common thing in this lWE hit Palamu. Most burning of vehicle is done in the second half of the day or at night the police record reads.

The SP said the police officers in their respective police stations have been asked to do a physical verification and assessment of polling booths, cluster, road chart, facility of drinking water, toilet for security forces and poll personnel. The police are drawing a plan to launch a village level monitoring of the poll arrangement said Ramesh. Ramesh clarified that cops’ engagement in poll duties will in no way slow down or put a brake on any anti naxal drive rather the SP reiterated that the drive will be as ever full of momentum as it is now.
