Quite recently, SP Palamu Chandan Kumar Sinha shuffled many inspectors and sub inspectors of police. It is about little over 6 dozen shuffling said sources. It may be a very routine thing for the district police but when some 'mighty' men in uniform are downsized it becomes more than a normal thing, said sources.
Among the shuffled ones were some such police officers who had begun to measure themselves larger than life size. Such police officers had woven an image of their being infallible and what they said or did should not be weighed in the frame of law of the land they had begun to wish and nurse.
SP Chandan Kumar Sinha is said to have trimmed such police officers very fiercely.
Speaking to the Pioneer the SP admitted he too was getting information that some of the police officers were behaving with the common people like these commoners were of lesser gods. These police officers were rude and rough to them. They have now been shown the mirror.
Again the SP said, "Normally I wait for officer in charge of the police station to have a minimum of 2 years stint if otherwise no serious issue of misconduct, misbehaviour, violation of human rights, impropriety of police action in matter of prevention of crime, post crime investigation, filing of charge sheet gross negligence and dereliction of duties etc do not crop up. However if police officers begin to mouth loudly there are suitable measures to contain them as well within the parameters of law."
