Acid attack victim Sonali, who had earlier pleaded to the Government for euthanasia, is much happier after joining a Government job at Bokaro Deputy Commissioner’s office.
On Monday, Sonali joined as a clerk in the Establishment Section at DC office Bokaro after a long struggle of ten years. “Keeping her health and physical status in mind we have made her join the establishment section right now,” said Uma Shankar Singh Deputy Commissioner Bokaro adding, “Sonali also asked for a medical leave for her due surgeries”.
“First she will go under training and then we will decide suitable department for her,” added the DC. "I have no words to describe my happiness. I am very much thankful to the CM Hemant Soren for his noble move," Sonali said. “Taking a lesson from Soren’s liberal attitude other State Governments should follow this and award jobs to all such victims for their courage,” she added.
"There are so many victims (girls) like me (across the country) who are struggling against odds. They need sturdy initiative and help from the government," Sonali said. "After a long struggle I got a job, now I hope my mutilated face would be restored within the next six months (July-August’14). My three-four surgeries are still due, by the end of February this year I will leave Bokaro for surgery,” she informed. “Though, I will have to go a long way to restore my visions. There is complete loss of vision in my right eye while left has only 4 percent vision. Doctors are still struggling for restoration my vision,” Sonali said.
Urging from mass to act against such crime Sonali said people should make their voices heard if there any crime against the girls including others. Sonali said “I still have faith on our law. I am battling for justice not only for myself but also for the plight of other victims. I want to establish a milestone of Justice for such victims and to open a new door for them. I have lots of guts and no fear”, Sonali added.
