The Government has decided to harness solar power to brighten as many as 214 remotely located villages of the State. Chief Minister Raghubar Das issued a directive in this regard.

While reviewing the Energy Department on Wednesday, the CM directed the officials to provide solar power to the villages situated in hilly terrains by September this year. “Supplying power is in the priority list. The CM said that the Government has targeted to supply electricity in all houses by 2018 and the work should be taken seriously. In rural areas, power should be connected through conducting camps,” said an official after the meeting.

laying stress on solar farming, the CM said that companies making solar panels should be called to Jharkhand. Besides rural pockets, the exercise to connect all important Government buildings should continue in a speedy manner, said the CM. “Barren lands should be used for this. Once the solar panels are installed, it will work for next 25 years and save expenditure and manpower. Also, meters will be installed at transformers by December for controlling power theft,” he added.
