Social media can bridge gap between Govt, people: Pandey

PNS

Speaking at the workshop on Social Media by UNICEF on Friday, Information and Public Relations Department Director Avdhesh Kumar Pandey said, “We have to use social media efficiently for bridging the gap between the Government and common man so that prompt action can be taken against the grievances of the public. This is being done already. Several higher officials have taken strict action against complaints they have received on this platform.”

He said, “The IPRD officials should use social media platforms as much as possible and propagate the projects and important actions by the state government through it. Such workshops will be beneficial for the officials of the department as they will get to know the use of social media in today’s context and its importance.”

If the grievances of people reach the government swiftly, then government will be able to act on them promptly too, said Pandey. Social media has become a crucial link between the Government and the people who are using it to make their problems heard.

The IPRD Director instructed his subordinates to understand the nuances of social media and use it as much as possible to forward messages so that the government bodies get to know about the problem and they can act on it.

“The IPR Department is using social media already and is transmitting information via CM’s Facebook page and Whatsapp media group. We should use it personally too,” Pandey said.

“Government officials should work with an aim towards the Government and public in mind. They should use social media platforms as much as possible. We are ready to help in case of any difficulty,” said UNICEF state head Madhulika Johnathan.

UNICEF Master Trainer Deepak Gupta instructed the present officials in detail about the uses, functions and advantages of social media and various social media websites.
