Family members of slain Pakur SP Amarjit Balihar, who along with his driver and three security guards was killed in a Maoist attack on July 2, have more questions to Naxals that anyone else. While they are still in a shock after this incident and unwilling to talk much but put fingers on the pro-tribal rhetoric, the Naxals make and claim to be the saviours of tribals and dalits.
With tears in eyes, the younger brother of late SP Balihar, David Balihar said, “We want that the investigation should not lose its track with time. We have no grievances from the Government. We know they will do their work properly. But the big question here is that these Maoists who are fighting for the cause of tribal people, how can they kill a tribal SP who was such a kind hearted person, working for the welfare of the tribal people and helping them in every possible mannerIJ”
Naxals stresses that they are fighting to protect the rights of India’s most oppressed communities, the adivasis or tribal people, and dalits, or untouchables, whose land and resources have often been taken by corporations.
He also added, “I do not understand after killing a Tribal SP so brutally. What they wanted to proveIJ It can never be said that they created an example for their own people after such a cowardly act.”
No one can take away the pain or sadness of a person who has suffered the death of a family member. Grief is an intense and powerful emotion, causing discomfort and the same was visible among the other members of the slain SP which comprises of his wife, a Principal in Jharkhand Siksha Seva; two daughters and a son studying in BIT, class XI Kairali Public School, class IX St.Xavier School respectively.
“He was a very good human being and soft spoken person. We have never heard him shouting at any one. We respect him a lot. He will remain in our heart forever,” said a colleague of SP Balihar, present at his home to pay him the tribute.
“We all were in the state of shock. Each and every soul is disheartened and sad after the dreadful incident which took away the life our SP sahib. He was a very helping person. He always use to step his foot forward to arrange Christmas gathering at his colony, Pathal Kudwa. We all will participate in the candle march and pay him the tribute,” said Randhir Bara, who resides near SP Balihar’s house.
In order to pay tribute to the late SP Balihar, a candle march was carried out from his residents Pathal Kudwa Chowk moving to Dangra Toli at 4 in the evening on Sunday with posters in their hand appealing to declare Dangra Toli as Saheed Amarjeet Chowk. Hundreds of common citizens participated in the
candle march.
