Tata Steel Skill Development Society, Private ITI, Tamar, a skill development joint initiative by Government of Jharkhand and Tata Steel based on a public-private-partnership model, provides vocational training to rural youth to enable skill development and increase employability.
In a first of its kind endeavour, a 10-week long BPO training was provided by TSSDS Private ITI, Tamar to SC/ST graduate college students. Candidates from across Jharkhand and Odisha applied for the programme. Out of a total of 90 students who applied, 27 students were selected and trained.
After completion of the training, 5 students landed up with jobs with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Kolkata in May ‘13 and are undergoing on-the-job training currently while 4 students got placed with Tata Business Support Services (TBSS), Jamshedpur.
