More skeletons are rolling down from the cupboard of DBT (direct benefit transfer) scheme in Palamu. There are 85,000 beneficiaries of various categories of social assistance scheme here in this district.
Sources said that more than 400 beneficiaries are here who have been shown availing at least two benefits under the National Social Assistance Scheme.
A person can avail just one benefit at a time like if the person is disabled and in old age too then he/she can have either the disability pension or the old age pension but not the two together.
The deputy commissioner Palamu Manoj Kumar has confirmed the administration has put under scanner more than 400 cases where duplication of benefit has come to the fore here.
The DC is too cautious so as not to call it any fraud till all truths about it are not checked and verified.
Kumar said there are instances where Aadhaar Numbers have been mingled with or written very wrongly. The poor do not know how to fill up the bank form that links
Aadhaar Number to their bank account and here some thugs are working who in haste fill wrong Aadhaar Numer which has led to this cropping up of irregularity .Again it may not be denied that there are some shrewd beneficiaries who are managing more pies from the government and now their lids are being taken off.Where there is an clear and apparent case of duplication of benefit reaching out to one beneficiary it will be scrapped immediately.
There is no word as to with regard of the recovery of money in duplication so gone to a beneficiary.Recovery of pension from the poor and destitute is no longer any possibility even a distant one said one officer.
