Through this scheme, water will be provided to the cultivable land above the ground level.

Under the Sikatiya Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme, cycle wise irrigation facilities will be provided in the irrigated area through a pipeline from the pump motor from Ajay Barrage Upstream located near Sikatiya village.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren will lay the foundation stone of the Sikatiya Mega Lift Irrigation project on Monday. This scheme will be constructed at a cost of Rs 484.35 crore. Preparations for the foundation stone laying ceremony have been completed.

This scheme will be completed in three years, as a result of which 13,164 hectare area of 24 panchayats of the respective blocks will get a kharif irrigation facility.

Along with this, in case the requirement of water in the fields is limited due to excessive rainfall during any period, the water can be diverted and filled to the nearby reservoirs, so that water supply through ponds to the villagers for cattle and other works. can be done.

In Sarath, Karo, Vidyasagar and Jamtara blocks under Deoghar and Jamtara districts, irrigation was impossible through traditional canal system because of the cultivable land at a height above the river level and due to excessive land acquisition of cultivable land in this system. Sikatiya Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme has been prepared to provide irrigation facilities by lifting water through the pipeline. Through this, in order to ensure continuous availability of water for pumping, a circular irrigation facility will be provided in the irrigated area through a water pipeline from the pump motor from the upstream of Ajay Barrage located near Sikatiya village.

Apart from mainly paddy, cultivation of mustard, green gram beans, wheat and maize will also be possible in the proposed area. For the purpose of providing water for agriculture related activities and animals, in case of excessive rainfall and limited need of water in the fields, a provision has been made to transfer the water and fill the nearby ponds, so that the villagers always get water through the ponds.

There is a plan to irrigate 27 panchayat fields of Deoghar and Jamtara through the pipeline. Through this scheme, water will be provided to the cultivable land above the ground level. The government thinks that Rabi and Kharib crops will be benefited through this scheme.

Regarding the scheme, Executive Engineer, Irrigation Division Sikatiya, Budhai Jageshwar Rajwar said that Sikatiya Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme is the second scheme of Jharkhand in which everything is special. All ponds and ponds in the service area will always be kept full. Provision for a special pipeline has been made for this. To ensure that there is no problem in running such a big project, provision for a 7 MW solar power plant has been made. Government is in talks with NABARD. Water user association will be formed. Farmers will decide on which day water will go to the fields of which area. All this will have to be decided by the association itself. 70 percent of the land where lift irrigation is being built is cultivable.
