Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has got a huge companion in Jharkhand in the form of JMM patriarch and senior-most leader Shibu Soren. The octogenarian tribal leader with his own struggle against alcoholism and hooch has come in the support of banning the item in the State.
When asked about his take on the demand being made by many political and social organisations in the line of neighbouring Bihar, Shibu Soren said, “I firmly believe that liquor should be banned in the State. Jharkhand needed this (the ban) the most since poor tribal are the worst sufferers of this.”
Soren’s preliminary social struggle was centered against liquor and he had led several movements across the State when it was a part of Bihar besides the call of separate Statehood.
