Ranchi police will now act as an integral unit to nab the criminals immediately in case an incident takes place in the state Capital. DGP DK Pandey, while holding a crime review meeting in Ranchi on Monday, scolded Ranchi Police officials for failing to check the rising crime graph in the state capital. The DGP said that efforts were on to develop service oriented policing in the state.
“We are trying to make police stations more sensitive so that they can feel the problems faced by the people and get connected to them developing such an arrangement that a sense of security is developed among the citizens. People do not have to worry about getting secured,” said the DGP.
According to DGP, efforts were being made on further improving the service oriented policing in the state capital. Referring to the shootout which took place on Monday at Morhabadi, the DGP said that it was being found out that despite the matter was put into the notice of the police, why no cognizance was taken by police in this regard.
“We are trying to make an effective policing so that trust of the citizen could be won,” Pandey said. Policing is a team work and the whole system has to be put into a single unit as passing the buck would not do anymore as it is the responsibility of the department to keep state capital safe for which every possible step will be taken, he added.
The DGP further added that a list of 65 top criminals of five gangs have been identified and suggestions were made to examine the activities of the head of the gang, find out their possible hide-out place, find out the investments made by them from the money raised through criminal activities, a special team should also be formed to take action against them and put them into exile.
The DGP called the meeting in the wake of rising incidents of crime in the city, especially after a PWD engineer Amrendra Prasad was shot at by unknown criminals in Morabadi area on Monday.
The criminals, on a motorcycle, did a drive-by as Prasad was driving his four-wheeler, and fled the scene after shooting him.
The victim was being harassed for extortion money in the past and a case has been registered in Argora police station. Critically injured engineer was later shifted to New Delhi for better treatment.
