PNS

Regional deputy director health Palamu John F Kennedy took stock of the vaccination jabs in the tribal  heartland in Latehar district on Thursday.

He first made his stop over at Kaer 10 kilometers away from the Betla national park where at Kaer sub health centre only eighty five vaccinations were done in two days. Kennedy said he

asked the ANMs here to expedite the jab which he wished ought to have been on the upper side.

One of the two ANMs here Kusum Toppo said the tribal don't take interest in the vaccination. They want a transportation facility.  They live far away from the sub health centre, she said.

Sources said the vaccination jab pace is tardy in Latehar district.

Sources said the regional deputy director health Palamu later visited a remote sub health centre at Nawadeeh in Chahal Chungru panchayat which is a naxal citadel.

Kennedy said that at Nawadeeh sub health centre the vaccination scenario was not bright.

Quoting the ANM of this sub health centre Abha Kerketta he said in two days only 78 vaccinations were done that too in the special drive at the panchayat level.

He agreed information education and communication regarding Coronavirus is to be stepped up. He asked the ANM to arrange tea for the visitors to win their good will and trust in the vaccination.

Sources said the Latehar health officials will have to work harder to make substantial outreach in the difficult to access villages to bring people for the jabs. He said a lackadaisical approach should be dropped.

Kennedy said this district too had a notion that vaccines had run short while the fact of the matter is that it was never so.

He told the medical officer in charge of the community health centre at Barwadeeh Dr S  K Subodh that a timely entry of vaccination enable the district to have an adequate number of doses of vaccines from Ranchi.
