A three-day long international seminar on ‘Religion, Ethnicity and Resistance’ was organised by Department of History of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh on Saturday.
Chancellor Syed Ahmed inaugurated the seminar in the presence of former Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha and Koderma MP Ravindra Rai in Vivekananda Seminar Hall.
Ahmed said the topic of deliberation is not only internationally relevant but also of great importance for deciding the future course of human civilisation throughout the world.
He further said, “If international community does not recognise the aspirations of the people and does not improve the policy to fulfil the same, it would be difficult to maintain peace.” Veteran BJP leader Yashwant Sinha emphasised on peace and modern civilisation.
He said, “In the absence of any civilised and peaceful method of protest by institution or leaders to raise genuine issues of the people, then retrogressive forces fill the gap which results in hatred and violence.”
Vice-chancellor of the University, Gurdeep Singh said, “Religiously informed conflicts and resistance have become increasingly prominent in the world today and in the modern world history.” The programme was hosted by Rajesh Kumar and the vote of thanks was presented by Vikash Kumar.
