A Semi-Automatic sanitary napkin vending machine has been installed in the Swavalamban Kendra operated by Mahila Samiti Bokaro in collaboration with CSR of BSL so that high quality sanitary napkins can be delivered to women at low cost.
In the year 2015, BSL in association with Mahila Samiti Bokaro under CSR works started a sanitary napkin production project for women at Swavalamban Kendra, Sector 4, which was aimed at making low cost sanitary napkins and distributing them to rural women in the enclaves of Bokaro.
Initially, this project was being implemented in a manual manner and some women were employed in it through the Mahila Samiti. Total production of sanitary napkins was low due to manual machine production and the quality was also lower than other sanitary napkins available in the market.
In this backdrop, the CSR department of BSL decided to increase the production and quality of sanitary napkins and while deciding to buy a new machine in this direction; it was also kept in mind that the new machine would be improved in terms of production and quality as well. Employment opportunities should also be provided to women.
During this time, the focus was on a machine made by "Sri Arunachalam Marganantham", an investigator related to the production of sanitary napkins.
