See-through parks all about open air!

They have seen the light of the day late but the see-through parks have received a warm welcome.

Recently Ranchi Municipal Corporation constructed three see-through parks. One of the parks — Nigam Park, in front of Aadiwasi Hostel- has been inaugurated and the other — Ram Dayal Munda Park, in front of State Guest House - is ready to be inaugurated. Five more such parks are coming up in Harmu locality.

See-through parks are different from the traditional parks in the sense that while latter are fenced by concrete or barbed wire the formers are non-walled. The wall in the traditional parks cuts them off the world outside. The beauty of the parks remains confined within the contours of the wall. However, the see-through parks are non-walled. Since these parks are non-walled one can see the beauty inside without needing to visit inside and hence the name see-through.

Since these parks are non-walled, says RMC PRO Naresh Kumar Sinha, the beauty and fragrance of inside permeate into the outside world. It inspires people to make such arrangements in the areas they command. “Beauty and arrangements inside the parks may serve as an inspiration for people. They may want to replicate the arrangements inside in their homes. With the parks being un-walled the flowers, their beautiful arrangements and alignments can be enjoyed by the passers-by also. Thus, huge number of people can enjoy and replicate the beauty. This in long run might result in improved civic sense,” Sinha said.

Excited by the warm response that these parks have been receiving five parks in Harmu locality that RMC is constructing will also be see-through parks.

These ‘open’ parks are being welcomed by young people, couples and elderly alike. Young people and couples are saying they are happy that they can enjoy the beauty of the parks during any roadside walk. They need not devote time specifically and only for the same. This saves time. The elderly people, with the see-through parks, are finding the parks more predictable in terms of them (the parks) being welcoming to a person with their grand children.

“With walled parks sometimes is becomes embarrassing to go inside with your grand children. Now the parks are more welcoming and predictable,” said SN Singh, an elderly people who takes | his grandchildren almost every day.
