Elaborate security arrangements have been made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting at Nawadih ground in Jamua, Giridih scheduled for today. Three-tier security set up comprising 1,200 policemen of special protection group sleuths and local police will guard the venue and surrounding areas.

As part of Koderma and Giridih’s election campaign, Modi will be attending the meeting at Nawadih ground on Monday. As it would be his first public meeting before the polls in Koderma and Giridih, BJP leaders are putting in all efforts to make it a grand success.

Meeting organisers told the police that they are expecting about two lakh people to turn up for the public meeting who will reach the ground at Nawadih in Jamua by walking around 2 kms. Meanwhile, Special Protection Group (SPG) sleuths, who guard the Prime Minister, visited the venue on Sunday along with city police Chief Surendra Kumar Jha. They spoke to local police and organisers about various aspects of his security.

The organisers were told that not more than 40 persons will be allowed on the dais and the list will be shared with the security agencies for background check. Giridih SP Surendra Kumar Jha, accompanied by senior cops, including law and order and traffic additional commissioners, gave instructions to the security wing, Task Force and local police.

The security wing will take care of anti-sabotage checks using sniffer dogs and setting up DFMDs. The three-tier security set up will guard the periphery, entrances to the ground and near the stage,” he said.

Special branch sleuths have started security census around the venue to verify the antecedents of people who stay nearby. All high-rise buildings near the venue will also be checked.

A full dress rehearsal of the security set up, as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) mentioned in the ‘Blue Book’, was done on Sunday before the event. Modi is likely to reach the ground by helicopter from Ranchi airport.
