In view of series of blasts at Seraikela Kharsawan, the security forces have planned a new strategy to nail down rest of the rebels. The forces that recently recovered IED bombs and ammunition are now planning a massive combing operation with help from Jharkhand Police.

Sources informed that a number of Maoist squads have also become active in Kharsawan. Joint forces are expected to raid both places when operations begin.

"We have information that some of these people have engaged in anti-social activities once again. We have therefore decided to keep close tabs prisoners that may be asked by the committee in the future to be freed," a police official said.

In past two months several blasts took place in the district. Notably, the Chamta village which is just four kilometres away from the Purulia district of Bengal and the place is considered to be a former rebel hotspot.  An uprising by the local people in 2009 coupled with an intense policing by the CRPF's continuous drive against the rebels.

Source pointed out that the naxals continue to infiltrate in splinter groups in villages under Bodam and Patamda block for convincing the local residents to revive the naxal movement in these areas.

“We have asked security forces to conduct long-range patrolling in the areas of Kuchai, Kharsawan and also places like Ghurabandha, Ghatshila and Patamda,” said an official.

Sources informed that there are intelligence inputs that CPI (Maoist) may indulge in demonstrative acts of violence by targeting security forces and economic infrastructure such as trains, buses, railway stations, bus stations and other places where people are likely to gather in significant numbers.

“Every effort will be made to maintain law and order and to ensure security of the people. This time all security forces have also been alerted to remain vigilant, particularly against IEDs and landmines," said another official.

Meanwhile, the police and paramilitary forces have started frisking commuters in the bordering areas. At some places common people are also being interrogated by police and paramilitary force on suspicion. Forces have been deployed in strategic locations.

Police said that the security has been beefed up in the area and they were keeping strict vigil on movement of the Naxlites. “There has been a substantial increase in Maoist activities in this. We are not much concerned about small acts of violence because these activities can be controlled by us, but the bigger attacks are worrisome,” said a security official.
