With the month – long Shravani mela beginning on Wednesday, the state police have stepped security across the shrine city of Deoghar district in Jharkhand.

The fresh strategies of the district administration and shrine board members are meant to provide the pilgrims with safe, secured and peaceful congregations so that they could offer prayers within the given time frame. Apart from normal preparations, the top officials have also decided to introduce certain new systems during this mega – festival.

The District administration as well as the police department have arranged water pipe lines covering a distance of almost 10 – 12 kilometers along the Kamwariya path (the track from where the devotees march towards the temple) from Dumma – the entering point of Jharkhand to Khijuriya, about 2 kilometers before the temple premises.

“Foot over bridge meant to manage and govern the queue of devotees from Sanskar Mandap to the temple premises till sanctum sanctorum. Besides, various other steps have been taken this year to get rid of any untoward occurrences. We have also appealed to other departments like power supply, water board, sanitation and others to look after their respective responsibilities”, said the Deoghar, Superintendent of Police, Subhash Chandra Jat.

Security forces have been deployed at various strategic locations in and around the shrine city. We have laid utmost emphasis in the temple premises that often witnesses thousands of lakhs of devotees throughout the days”, he said adding that almost 11000 police forces have been engaged in managing and the entire security systems during the mega feast.
