Security has been beefed-up and Section 144 was imposed following a clash between the police and agitated mob protesting against the erratic power supply at Chas in Bokaro district on Saturday afternoon.
Demanding smooth power supply thousands of the local residents blocked the NH-23 at Chas on Friday noon and the blocked was continued till Saturday noon, said Shyam Narayan Ram SDO Chas.
“Police resorted to lathi charge to in response and later Section 144 was imposed at Chas. No one were injured and no untoward incidents were reported”, SDO added.
Irked over the irregular power supply irate mob stretched the blocked in 1.5 kms (from Garga Bridge to Dharamshala more) at Chas on Ranchi-Dhanbad National Highway on Friday noon; completely disrupted communication, he said.
Meanwhile prohibitory orders under section 144 of the IPC were imposed. The situation is now peaceful and under control; additional police forces were deployed, said SDO.
