The State Election Commission (SEC) in a letter written to the state government has asked to revoke the transfer order passed in the case of Deputy Superintendent of Police as it will hamper the investigation process in the cash for vote scam. Singh was transferred just after eight months at his office as City DSP on Saturday along with the other 42 police officers of the state.

“I have requested the state government to cancel the transfer of the IO in this case or at least defer it till the investigations are going on in the cash for vote scam case,” said State Election Commissioner SD Sharma. According to Sharma, his transfer will adversely affect the investigation in the case.

DSP Singh had been probing the cash for vote scam during the municipal elections in Ranchi and was said to have successfully come close to the details regarding the scam. Recently, he had also quizzed former Mayor Rama Khalkho for three days after taking her on remand by the vigilance court.

Disappointed and disheartened with decision of the state government, Singh on Sunday had even threatened to resign. Singh was transferred to Special Branch just after a short span of eight months at his office, Singh now, is waiting for his movement orders from the department. Till then, he will be discharging his duties as usual. The decision to transfer Singh was passed a day after he grilled ex-Mayor of Ranchi in the cash for vote scam on Friday.

Khalkho, accused the money grab case, had surrendered before a vigilance court on Tuesday followed by an FIR lodged against her along with the two others at lalpur police station on April 7 after the police and the income tax sleuths seized Rs 21.9 lakh from a hotel room. The money was allegedly meant to influence voters.
