Around 50 school children fell ill at Manjori Utkramit middle school, Bengabad in Giridih ,on Wednesday afternoon after taking contaminated Mid-day meal. At least 50 school children, suffering from food poisoning were admitted to the sadar hospital under the town police station .
According to reports ,all the victims study in primary classes who along with other students of the school had consumed rice and pulse under the Mid-day meal scheme at 2pm on Wednesday and developed symptoms of food poisoning after one hour when they complained about pain in the stomach and even started vomiting.
All the 50 students with similar symptoms were rushed to local PHCBengabad, where doctors referred dozen of students to sadar hospital, Giridih as their condition was not well.
According to the villagers a partially cooked lizard or a resembling creature was found in the food .The teachers ,however ,were not bothered ,who according to the villagers directed the children to consume the same food by simply throwing out the lizard .
District superintendent of education Mahmud Alam and BDO of Bengabad, who rushed to the hospital soon after been apprised with matter had to face the wrath of parents of the victims.
He, however, said those found responsible for any kind of negligence will not be spared after a proper inquiry. Civil surgeon Dr BN Jha however, admitted that children who were brought to the hospital had symptoms of food poisoning having speedy recovery.
