Advisor to Governor Madhukar Gupta said that all the departments had worked hard last year and their efforts were satisfactory. “But the real challenge starts now, they said.
He along with the other Advisor K Vijay Kumar were reviewing the works done by various departments last year and their work plans for the first three months of the current financial year at Project Bhawan on Wednesday.
Gupta said that the optimum utilisation of the fund could not be done in last financial year as many departments received funds in the last week of the ending month. “The priority of the department should be to spend the funds made available by the central government in developmental works,” he said.
He advised the departments to ensure that funds of the State government and Central Government should not be spent on the same scheme. He said that there should be better coordination between the Management Information System (MIS) of finance department and the department for planning and development.
They also directed the department to put information board on the work site about the work, for the benefit of the common people especially in the villages where people could not go online to get the information about the work being done in their locality.
K Vijay Kumar said that the State had funds for the current financial year and also a team of dedicated officers to execute the plans. “I expect therefore transparency in execution of plans at ground level,” he said.
Chief Secretary RS Sharma said that comprehensive workout and execution of the plans should be done right from the onset of the financial year. He said that all the departments should prepare the data base of their works and also upgrade their data.
