PNS

The State BJP unit will take a final decision on Adivasi/Sarna religious code on the floor of the House in the Special Session called by the government. State BJP chief whip and Bokaro MLA Viranchi Narayan said that the BJP will take its stand on the floor of the House.

Narayan said that the party's MLAs will express their views on what and how the proposal will come in the House. State BJP, has called the legislative party meet on Tuesday, a day ahead of Special Assembly session called by State Government where Sarna Religious Code will be tabled.

The State Government with an attempt to address the demand of a separate Sarna Code in State for tribal population is going to convene a day-long special session of the Assembly on November 11 to pass a resolution in favour of the Sarna Code. After passing the Sarna Code resolution in Assembly, the State Government will forward it to the Union Government for final consent.

Meanwhile, sources said that though BJP supports Sarna religious code, the party wants clearance from State Government on religious conversion. A senior BJP leader requesting anonymity said, “The party is in opinion that tribals converting to other religions, especially Christianity are left out from separate religious code as there is difference in culture and tradition of Sarna/Adivasi to those of Christian.”

The leader said, “While the Sarna and other Adivasi group marriage is performed with ancient tribal cultures, those tribal groups who have embraced Christianity there are performed at Churches.”

Meanwhile, the Congress too had its legislative party meet where it was decided to support the Adivasi Sarna religious code. Congress spokesperson, Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo said, “There is no confusion whether the party will support the Adivasi Sarna religious code.”

At the BJP legislative party meet, the leaders also thanked voters of Bihar and other states who voted for strengthening NDA and also wished the winning bye-election candidates. The BJP leaders at the legislative party meet once again reiterated  that the party will keep on raising issues concerning public interest as the Soren government has failed miserably.

In today's meeting, State President Deepak Prakash, Leader of Legislative Assembly Babulal Marandi, CP Singh, Neelkanth Singh Munda, Ramchandra Chandravanshi, Anant Ojha, Neera Yadav, Randhir Singh, Amar Bauri, Naveen Jaiswal, Bhanupratap Shahi, Alok Chaurasia, Narayan Das, Amit Mandal, Pushpa Devi, Kishun Das, Shashibhushan Mehta, Dhullu Mahato, Indrajit Mahato, Raj Sinha, Koache Munda, Samri Lal, were present.
