One sand ghat in Palamu was auctioned for a sky rocketing price Rs 1.60 crore. The bidder was one Kumar Chaman Singh. Monday October 21 was the second day of sand ghat auctioning.
The first sand ghat auctioning was done this October 18. The first day auctioning of 7 sand ghats had brought in 90 lakhs to the State exchequer but today one sand ghat auctioning alone broke all records and touched the highest ever Rs 1.60 crore!
The DC Palamu Manoj Kumar has confirmed today’s auctioning of just one sand ghat for Rs 1.60 crore. Till the filing of this report the auction was on he said.
40 sand ghats are to be auctioned said the DC. It will be done phase wise. There are 4 days of auctioning left for the remaining one. Number of auctioning of sand ghats on Monday October 21 is yet to be made officially.
Sources said just two bidders got this so scaled high. The sand ghat auctioned today for Rs 1.60 crore was at Pansa under Haidernagar police station of Hussainabad sub division.
The bid was revolving round Rs 2 lakhs to Rs 2.30 lakhs when all of a sudden it was hiked to Rs 10 lakhs and thereafter the bidding did not look back but surged fanatically.
This crore bidding looked a part of deep seated strategy to corner Kumar Chaman Singh a noted figure of Dhanbad having right connections in the corridors of power in Ranchi.
The other bidder who got it hiked just smiled when it settled for 1.60 crore said sources.
Sources said Pansa sand ghat has no major sand reserve except the fact that it is closer to Bihar where sand is
high priced.
