In an impressive display of resilience, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) unveiled its financial results today for the third quarter and nine months ending on December 31, 2023. The renowned steel giant has marked a significant milestone, achieving its best-ever performance in production and sales for the first nine months of the financial year.
It is noteworthy that SAIL witnessed a commendable growth trajectory, with crude steel production and sales volume surging by 6.6% and 8.2% respectively during the 9M FY’24 over the corresponding period last year (CPLY).
- Notably, the profit after tax (PAT) for the initial three quarters of 2023-24 soared to an impressive Rs. 1722 Crore, reflecting a remarkable increase from Rs. 854 Crore recorded in the same period of the preceding fiscal year.
However, amidst the quarterly evaluation, SAIL faced a slight downturn, with the PAT in Q3 amounting to Rs. 331 Crore, a decrease from the Rs. 464 Crore achieved in the Q3 of the last fiscal year. This dip is attributed to a notable decline in price realization during the quarter.
Notably Amarendu Prakash, Chairman of SAIL, attributed the company's robust performance to its consistent efforts in augmenting volumes despite the challenging economic landscape. He emphasized the company's unwavering commitment to sustainable performance, highlighting key areas such as de-carbonization, enhanced capacity utilization, value addition, digitalization, and achieving cost competitiveness.
As SAIL navigates through evolving market dynamics and economic shifts, its focus on innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence remains unwavering. With a steadfast commitment to driving growth and delivering value to stakeholders, SAIL stands poised to continue its journey towards greater success in the global steel industry landscape.
