Sahiyas in Palamu are now engaged in  rapid antigen tests for the coronavirus infection, said the district Epidemiologist Dr Anup Kumar.

He said an intensive training of RAT was imparted  to our around 2400 work force of Sahiyas who are now a great health asset.

Anup Kumar said there will not be any crunch of personnel doing RAT in the event of a third wave of the coronavirus striking here as then these Sahiyas will be around in the remote villages as well.

He said there has come one huge mobile testing lab van here which also contributes to the massive testing mission here.

This lab on wheels is to do 2,000 RTPCR a day, said the civil surgeon Palamu Anil Kumar.

This huge lab on wheels is to cater to the needs of two adjoining districts Latehar and Garhwa.

Anup Kumar said we have achieved 21 percent of the vaccination of the eligibles in the age group 18 to 44. More than 9 lakhs of the eligibles of 18 to 44 are to be vaccinated.

He said 39 percent vaccination is over in the age group 45 to 59 where the target is 303147.

About the tests district Epidemiologist said it is 2,500 a day on an average here in Palamu.

He appealed to people to be extra cautious and alert in August as this month August is said to be a return of the coronavirus but he said if people wear masks and maintain covid appropriate behaviour then this viral attack can be most successfully contained.
