Sadar Hospital at the heart of capital city, near Albert Ekka aka Firayalal Chowk, turned partially operational on Friday with Chief Minister Raghubar Das cutting ribbon for 200-bed maternity-child unit.

The CM also assured of the state-of-the-art hospital turning fully operational with rest of 300-bed by end of next year.

The 200-bed unit which has been turned functional from Friday includes services and facilities like operation theatre, blood storage unit, pre/post operative rooms, medicine OPD, physiotherapy unit, child care (OPD, IPD and ICU), general medicine room, dog bite room, pharmacy, hospital kitchen, canteen, toilets, equipments like X-Ray machine, colour ultrasound machine, computerized ECG machine and foetal Doppler machines with computerized registration, all at a cost of Rs143.47 crores. The unit will be in hands of 14 doctors and 41 nurses for sometime until required numbers of doctors and para-medical healthcare professionals are appointed.

Incidentally, Sadar Hospital had turned an emblem of officials’ lethargic approach and ‘failing-deadline after-deadline is bliss’ kind of mentality for the last three years.

Das urged the doctors’ fraternity to add ‘emotional’ quotient while treating with patients, as healthy gesture of doctors and para-medical staff and hygienic health centre premises helped patients overcoming half of the pain automatically.

Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department Minister Ramchandra  Chandravanshi, Urban Housing and Transport Department Minister CP Singh, Kanke MlA Dr Jeetu Charan Ram, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Sudhir Tripathi, Civil Surgeon Dr Shiva Shanker Harijan, Health Services Director  Sumant Mishra and other officials of health and building construction departments were also present.

He also said that no matter how ahead Jharkhand remained in comparison to other states on number of other parameters, it was far behind compared to national average as far as achievements in healthcare and education sectors were concerned. Das said that only a healthy Jharkhand could turn into a prosperous Jharkhand, hence every doctor must treat at least 5-10 patients free of cost.

“Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged doctors to treat all patients free of cost on 9th of every month, which should be followed. The fraternity will have to ensure that no death of any pregnant lady or child to be delivered ever occurs due to poverty,” said Das.

“We have been working on turning all the district hospitals into state-of-the-art ones so that RIMS or newly functional Sadar Hospital should not bear excessive load of patients. Construction works of three medical colleges, one in Dumka, Palamu and Hazaribagh each, are on and Government of India has approved similar colleges in Koderma, Chaibasa and Bokaro too. With three medical colleges already functional, we will have nine medical colleges functional in another three years with 500-bed hospital attached to each, other than AIIMS in Deoghar, Cancer Hospital and Medico City in Ranchi. Government will not hesitate to infuse any required amount in healthcare,” assured the CM.

Das added that the government would soon be launching ‘108 Ambulance Service’ with as many as 359 ambulances in the State to help prevent accident caused deaths.

“We are in process of recruitment of 3,000 plus nurses in which ANMs will be given preference. The government has already appointed 536 doctors and is in process of adding required numbers soon,” said Das.
