The annual freshers’ Day Prarambh 2014 was celebrated at the RVS College of Engineering and Technology Jamshedpur to welcome the newly-admitted students in the different streams of B. Tech course.
The college offers courses in Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and also the post graduation courses such as M. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering and Master of Computer Application.
The annual programme Prarambh was inaugurated by Ruchi Narendran, a social activist. The director of the institute Prof. (Dr.) MP Singh delivered the welcome address and presented a brief report of the college activities and achievements. He expressed that the college started its journey with an intake capacity of 240 students in four branches of B Tech (Bachelor of Engineering) programme 10 years ago. Today there are 1,600-odd students in six different branches of UG with an addition of PG programmes.
Narendran expressed good wishes for the newly inducted students and advised them to focus on skill development rather than the degree only. She highly praised the efforts made by the management of the college for taking initiatives to encourage and promote technical education in the State by establishing RVSCET in such a remote place.
She told that India started as a agriculture nation and developed itself with a contribution to service sector. But to feed one and quarter billion mouths and to give employment to the large young population, the manufacturing sector is the best option. Fortunately, the new Central Government has focussed on the same line and certainly this approach will put India ahead on the road to progress.
