Ranchi University has decided to take second supplementary examination of the 65 students of MBBS first professional batch 2011-12 session. This is for the first time RU would conduct such exam which is against the norms of a university.
Around 154 students of this batch had not appeared in the annual examination and when the supplementary examination was conducted 65 failed and 5 were rusticated because of using unfair means during examination.
The students had been agitating for their second supplementary examination referring the interim relief announced by Gujarat high court wherein students of BJ Medical College, lG Medical College and NHl Municipal Medical College were allowed to pursue second-year studies. Then the court had also directed the colleges to suspend the minimum attendance criteria, subject to their clearing the first year exam in 2011.
“The failed students will be allowed to appear in the second supplementary exam on the condition that they submit an affidavit by a first class magistrate having the signature of their parents,” said RU Registrar AK Choudhary to The Pioneer.
