Ruckus scenes were enacted in the sadar hospital Daltonganj on Thursday June 8 over the death of one Anil Singh . A mob of people shouted slogans and wanted to polticise the whole episode . Timely police action saved the situation.
SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha said, "One Anil Singh of Gurha village under Rehla police station was thrashed . It was alleged that he had outraged the modesty of a dalit woman aged 45 or so. The dalit woman raised a hue and cry and a mob gathered there which beat up Singh." Sources said police had rescued him. The episode was of post mid night Thursday night around 2.30 am on June 8.
SP further said Singh was first treated in the CHC at Vishrampur. He was referred to Sadar hospital Daltonganj where during treatment he died.
SP added, “The dalit woman has lodged her complaint. Police have registered the case under section 376 & prevention of atrocities against scheduled caste and scheduled tribe.”
The dalit woman would be medically examined also to ascertain whether her modesty was outraged or a bid was made on her modesty.
However he said there would be another case which would be for the death of Anil Singh as to who were in the mob who got him so thrashed that proved fatal for Anil’. Police would go into this case with open mind he reiterated.
