Ranchi University (RU) is all set to open its first guest house at Morhabadi from this week for common man. The building comprising 27 rooms was inaugurated by Governor Syed Ahmed on December 19, 2011. According to the officials the Academic Staff College near this building will manage the entire fooding and lodging facilities.
“The two floor building is basically for the resource persons of various universities who come to train the teachers in our Academic Staff College. 20 rooms are for such resource persons and seven are for guests to be accommodated on the consent of Vice Chancellor Dr lN Bhagat,” said a senior RU officer on the condition of anonymity.
Notably, the Academic Staff College hosts regular training programmes for the teachers throughout the year. So, there is a hostel and canteen within this college for out-station teachers. It is this reason that the college has been given an added responsibility of hospitality.
The senior officer mentioned that the charges of each room will vary between `200 to `300. In spite of this announcement, the guest house was found untidy on Saturday.
Since the entire management is given to Academic Staff College, RU administration will earn only 20 per cent amount from the charges of seven rooms under their control. The exact date for the opening is not fixed. An official confirmed that it will be done tentatively by January 25.
