For the new academic session 2019, Ranchi University (RU) has changed the admission procedure from the ‘Chancellor Portal’ to its own system of individualised web portal for various under graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) courses.

In 2018, admissions were done through a centralised platform-Chancellor Portal, in an attempt to promote transparency and efficiency. But several glitches and errors in the system had caused a delay in the onset of the academic session.

PK Jha, Public Relations Officer (PRO) RU said, “The concept of offline applications is only to help the students who are not able to fill the forms online. Since last time there was difficulty in forming the merit list and delay in admissions due to the portal, therefore the VC has taken consent of the Governor for the new system. The registration fee for SC/ST applicants will be Rs 400 whereas for the general category students it will be Rs 500. Also, 10 per cent reservations of seats will be done for those from the economically weaker sections according to the Government guidelines.”

In the new admission procedure, applicants can apply both online as well as offline. The forms will be available on the university website from June 14. For those unable to register online, offline submissions can be made to the concerned Head of University department, Principal or professor in charge of the college.
