A joint affidavit was filed by Ranchi Mayor Asha lakra, Municipal Commissioner cum CEO Prashant Kumar and Ranchi Municipal Corporation in pursuance of the Jharkhand High Court directive on Monday, stating that a consensus has been built among them to resolve the dispute with mutual understanding.
Following reports of dispute in Ranchi Municipal Corporation, a division bench of Chief Justice PK Mohanty and Justice Ananda Sen on April 18 had directed all parties to file a joint affidavit in this regard so that the people of Ranchi do not have to suffer any more.
“A five-page joint affidavit has been filed where it has been stated that provisions of Jharkhand Municipal Act 2011 and Jharkhand Account Manual will be strictly complied by all of them,” said Mayor’s Counsel Subhashis Soren. The outcome of the meeting held on Monday, however, will be filed on May 3, the next date fixed for hearing, he added.
Soren further added that the joint affidavit was filed on the basis of the resolutions taken during the meeting which took place on April 19 in the chairmanship of Government Pleader Rajiv Ranjan Mishra where a consensus had emerged to resolve all disputes in RMC. The meeting was attended by Mayor, Municipal Commissioner, RMC Chief Engineer, Health Officer, advocates of the petitioner and RMC, he added.
“It has been stated in the joint affidavit that there will be no dispute at all after the provisions of the Act and Manual are followed strictly by everyone,” said Soren.
The dispute between RMC Mayor and Municipal Commissioner had been brought to the notice of Court by the petitioner’s advocate during the hearing of a PIl filed by Deewan Indraneel Sinha on the issue of the mosquito menace in Ranchi following which the court directed lakra to be present physically in the court on April 18 to explain the dispute due to which several development projects remained held up.
lakra defending herself stoutly in the court, had said that the projects were held up as the norms were not being followed by the officials during the tender process.
