Despite being functional for a month at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), the newly set up Raen Basera inaugurated on August 12 at the premier medical institution is yet to be equipped with the basic facilities, creating difficulty for the people staying here. Situation is such that attendants residing there even have to make their own arrangement for drinking water.
During the inauguration authorities had promised that all the basic facilities like mattress, medicines will be provided to the attendants.
“I am residing at the Raen Basera for four days but we have to buy packaged drinking water from outside as no proper arrangement for drinking water has been made. The situation gets worsened when we have to go outside and buy water at night. It is even very expensive and moreover we need to carry the bottle,” said Meera Gope, an attendant from Giridih.
The Raen Basera service at RIMS was started on August 27, about 15days after it was inaugurated.
There are 63 rooms available here that can be hired by patients and attendants at a nominal price of Rs. 150 per day.
The premises of the shelter home is being maintained by the private housekeeping company Annapurna Utility.
A representative of the company Krishna Kumar said, “We are trying to maintain the Raen Basera and provide all the facilities but at times we too become helpless as for many things we have to the concern the hospital administration and get there approval.”
“As far as mattresses and fans are concerned we have written about it to the hospital administration and have received the items also, we are just waiting for the manpower so that the work can be started,” Kumar further added.
“I have to sleep on floor as no mattress has been provided to us and there is no proper arrangement for the fan in the rooms. The situation becomes worse if the patients are also living in the same room with other attendants,” said Surajmani Devi, an attendant from latehar.
A good number of attendants, staying at the RIMS Raen Basera, has similar stories to narrate.
