VIDHI PODDAR

The generic medicines store of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has been a disappointment as the store often runs out of stock forcing patients to purchase essential drugs from private retailers at higher prices.

Subash Singh (name changed) annoyed with the service of the store irritatingly said, “I came to purchase Blood Pressure (BP) tablets but was told to have it from other shop outside the premises. This not the first time earlier also I had undergone through the same reaction. If none of the medicines are available here then why is it open only for the name sakeIJ”

Echoing him another patient said that the generic store is only as a showpiece and Government should close it. The state government in order to ensure that patients especially from economically backward background get essential drugs at a minimum price open generic medical store at RIMS. Ironically it has failed to serve its purpose.

The shelves of the store only have few antibiotics.    On the condition of anonymity a staff said, “The store only has medicines for minor alignment like stomach ache, headache, and body pain. For other medicines one has to purchase from private retailers.” He further added that only from past few months the store has came into picture earlier a big lock use to hang outside the door.

Meanwhile, RIMS officials when asked about the reason behind pathetic scenario of generic store they blamed the stockiest for the inconvenience. RIMS PRO Subash Chandra Bhagat said, “The problem is with the stockiest who do not supply the medicines on time. We have asked the concerned authority person to look after the matter and come out with a concrete solution soon. They have assured us that will try to solve the matter soon.”
