RIADA plan to set up multi-speciality hospital

The project of 200-bedded Multi-Speciality Hospital at Tupudana has gained momentum. Following the instructions of Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Ranchi Industrial Area Development Authority (RIADA) is in search of a private partner for the hospital set up.

“In last few years, we had invited one or two tenders for the multi-speciality hospital. But, it could not be processed. We are again inviting private partners for constructing a Multi-Speciality Hospital on a land of around 3.7 acres at Tupudana Industrial area land,” a RIADA official confirmed on the condition of anonymity on Saturday.

Notably, RIADA proposes development of a modern and state-of-the art 200-bedded Multi Speciality Hospital involving design, planning, maintenance, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, operation and management by a private sector player.

For the selection procedure of a suitable partner, a single stage two envelope bidding process shall be adopted. This process is termed as ‘Request for Proposal’. Jharkhand Infrastructure Development Corporation limited is working as the consultation company for the project with RIADA.

The pre-bid meeting will be held on February 6 in the office of Managing Director, RIADA at Namkom. The selected developer will have to give medical services at reasonable cost.

In 2011, only a single company had turned up for the same job. The successful private partner would have then got the land on a long-term lease for a period of 30 years. Reports said that Apollo and Fortis groups had wanted to run the hospital on franchise model with operational freedom.

Presently, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is the only government institution offering all types of healthcare services at a reasonable charge. Newly built Sadar Hospital building on the same lines has not yet started its full-fledged functioning.
