Thermal city traders and local Sikh family members brought life to a standstill for more than 10 hours at Thana chowk on Wednesday. They were protesting against the abduction of a DAV schoolgirl, Gagan Prit Kaur, daughter of Mahendra Singh. They alleged that the police has failed to trace her. The agitators started a procession march from Jharkhand chowk that culminated in a dharna at the square and a simultaneous blockade of all connecting roads.
They also called for ‘Thermal bandh’ here on Wednesday. They demanded immediate recovery of Gagan Prit Kaur, a resident Pirwatard area of Bokaro thermal. Sources said that family members of 11-year-old schoolgirl, who went missing on January 26 at 10 pm from her house, are waiting for her return. The police are yet to trace the girl, though her family has named one Raja Alam, son of Maqsood Alam, as the main accused who had called Kaur on Monday.
The parents of the missing girl have lodged an FIR(20/15) under Section 366A/34 of IPC in the Bokaro Thermal Police Station in this regard. As per sources, the family members and business associates of Mahendra Singh first did not disclosed the matter, as they were making efforts to ensure her recovery at their own level. When they failed in their efforts, they brought the matter in the notice of local police.
General Secretary of Chas Gurudawara Sahab, Bhawanit Singh, alleged that the police has failed to make any progress in the girl’s abduction case. Police have interrogated several persons including the relatives of the accused person but they are yet to find any clue regarding the missing student. I have informed Bokaro IG about the incident and if local police fail to trace her, we will meet the Chief Minister to ensure safe return of the girl.
