Reduce number of teachers appointed as BlO: NCPCR

PNS

In a letter addressed to the Principal Secretary of the State’s Human Resources Development (HRD), the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights “requested to reduce the number of teachers working as Booth level Officers (BlOs)”.

In the letter the commission had argued that in Jharkhand 81.35 percent of BlOs are teachers whereas, in other states less than 50 percent of BlOs are teachers. The commission has said that the primary education had been affected owing to engagement of teachers as BlOs. “Education should be the priority. By engaging huge number of teachers as BlOs we are compromising with the education,” said state representative of NCPCR, Ganesh Reddy.
