PNS

On the occasion of World Soil Day, an awareness programme cum farmers’ seminar was organized by National Institute of Secondary Agriculture, Namkum and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khunti in collaboration with Women's Development Center - Torpa in Village Digari, Block- Rania. Taking this programme forward under the chairmanship of Dr. Jyotirmoy Ghosh, the in-charge chairman of the center, plant disease scientist Dr. Rahul Bakde said that the only way to increase the fertility of the soil is to adopt organic farming, as well as to use the natural resources available in agriculture. Today farmer brothers are filling their fields with fertilizers which is not a good sign for the soil of our fields keeping in mind the future.

E. Pradosh Kumar Paramguru while interacting with the farmers threw light on the issue of water conservation and said that human life is related to soil just like fish is related to water, if the quality of water is affected then it directly affects the health of fish. And it affects life in the same way, if we do not take care of the soil quality of our country, state, city, village and farm barn, then it will have the biggest impact in our life. Instead of wasting too much water in farming, it should use the methods prepared by scientists so that the exploitation of water is reduced.

He appealed to the people present in the programme not to use excessive amounts of chemical fertilizers and pesticides without knowing it. Using more fertilizers will not keep the organic quality of the soil for a long time and after a time the land will become barren or our farm will be completely dependent on fertilizers. Along with this, every farmer should get the soil test of his fields necessary from time to time. Dr. Rajan explained in detail about the current agricultural policy and appealed to the farmers to pay special attention to the various measures to preserve the soil of their fields and to remain alert for the health of their soil, like living for your health. In the programme, vegetable seeds were distributed among 75 farmers and cleanliness was also discussed among the farmers.
