Even though the Bhartiya Janta Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will arrive on December 29, posters, hoardings carrying his photos have reached the city days before the scheduled date for the rally. Modi’s topic and purchase of rally’s promotional products are two conspicuous activities at the State BJP’s office these days.

From masks, stickers, pens, wrist bands, the party office has sold Modi objects in numbers which could probably me matched only by the sales figure for the party’s flag. The state BJP’s sahitya cell is flocked by party workers everyday mostly for purchasing the popular among all objects- Modi mask. Interestingly, except Modi stickers, which is being printed in Ranchi, all objects are being sourced from outside.

“The demand for the Modi mukhauta is more compared to other objects bearing Modi’s photograph,” said city BJP media in-charge Kanahiya Jha. According to party office bearers, around 20,000 Modi mukhauta have been sold to party workers by the dedicated cadres of the party in the State. Besides, around 50,000 Modi stickers, which will be pasted on the vehicles of party workers as well as people coming to attend the ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’, have been distributed among party sympathizers.

“All objects bearing Modi’s photo were fetched by the party upon requests by the party workers,” said BJP’s Anant Ojha. Apart from the party, the NaMo mantra formed to create buzz about Modi has distributed stickers besides selling sarees, t-shirts and kurtas of Modi in the city. The NaMo mantra Jharkhand has so far distributed around 3 lakh Modi stickers and around 1000 pieces of t-shirts, sarees and kurtas in Ranchi.

“We distributed enough objects but demand of objects bearing Modi’s face is huge. We have stopped selling Modi objects as we have more important things to do for the rally,” said a member of NaMo mantra. Incidentally, preparations for the rally are almost complete and the stage has been set for Modi to reach out to the people of the State.
