A rail fracture in October in Daltonganj railway station! It sounds bizarre. But on Saturday, fracture on line number 4 here in the Daltonganj railway station disrupted rail traffic for over three hours.
Sources said the rail fracture in October is very rare as temperature is neither too hot nor too cold. Rail fracture occurred in only these two conditions said sources.
Traffic Inspector of East Central Railway under Dhanbad division AK Sinha who is Daltonganj railway based officer has confirmed the fracture of 2 feet on line number 4 but could not explain the cause behind fracture. Sinha only said, “It sometimes happens”.
A railway shunt man, Prabhu Ram discovered this rail fracture on line number 4. It was a 58 wagon goods train that had crossed on this track number 4, where came a loud noise, which Shunt Man Ram found to be of rail line fracture and it was thus there said Sinha.
All railway traffic on this line number 4 remained shut for 3.30 hours. The fractured two feet railway line was replaced by a 13 meter fresh rail line. With this the traffic on this line number 4 is restored.
