The PWD Road division latehar is pressing for its ROW (right of way) as its multi crore widening and strengthening of latehar Saryu Kotam Road finds a huge hill near Saryu valley which has narrowed down the road and without chiseling of this hill the road here at this 100 meter stretch cannot be widened.
Sources said the hill requires a cut of 4 meter in width upto 100 meter in length. Sources said it is only then this multi crore road’s widening and strengthening will be complete.
The PWD Road has to first to get NoC from the forest environment & climate change Department.
Further to cut it, no blasting is possible as quite opposite there is a hundred meter deep valley. Again if the hill is cut four meter in width and upto 100 meter in length then there would require a huge concrete guard wall to stem the gush of rains which on coming from hill get intense momentum.
PWD Road Executive Engineer latehar S U Ahmad has confirmed that hill near Saryu valley needs to be cut four meter in width and upto 100 meter in length in order to maintain the regular width of this road which is coming up in the red turf.
Incidentally the hill has no major trees as its felling would have caused another major problem
But how to cut if the concerned Department gives permission for it PWD Road EE said the cutting is to be done manually as blasting will be too dangerous.
This latehar Saryu Kotam road is under Saryu Action Plan which was launched in the year 2012 -13 and was to be widened and strengthened by 2015. However the completion is far away and before this this mountain issue of a ‘hill’ has come in between said sources.
