The three day training of as many as 28 members of the tiger reserve Palamu at the Kanha tiger reserve MP beginning September 7 ended on a positive note to BOMA technique, soft release centre, grass land management etc.
The 3 day training at the Kanha tiger reserve MP was attended by the field director PTR Kumar Ashutosh, deputy director north division P K Jena, deputy director south division Kumar Ashish besides three rangers, biologist, forest guards, trekkers etc.
On arrival at the PTR Jena said "Notes were exchanged for the BOMA technique. It's a safe technique where a wild life is shifted from one place to another without causing any problem to it."
Here in the tiger reserve Palamu there is a plan to translocate Cheetals. Jena said we need a sizable population of the Cheetals in both the divisions of the PTR while the fact of the matter is that Cheetals are in plenty in the north division while in the south division Cheetals are very very rare to be sighted.
There has to be a sufficient prey base for the carnivores and the Cheetals fit the bills most opined Jena.
Jena said the soft release centres that we are going to set up will have the Cheetals there through the BOMA technique which will replenish the prey base he explained.
There is a soft release centre of the Sambhars at the Bareysarn soft release centre. Here they are under 20 in numbers and it is more than five or six years when no Sambhar of this soft release centre has been launched in to the wild jungles of the tiger reserve Palamu.
With the BOMA technique the spread of the number of the Cheetals is expected to be in a near balanced form in the PTR as Cheetals abound in the north while it is a blue moon thing in the south division of the tiger reserve Palamu.
