Irate residents protested over the death of a dalit woman — Sanju Devi of loharsee village under Pipra Tarn police station.
Sanju Devi, wife of Karo Bhuiyan, delivered a boy and her delivery was normal at loharsee health centre. She then went home with her infant.
Her condition deteriorated soon and she was taken down to Panki community health centre by her husband where she was declared brought dead by the doctor. Kalanand Mishra, Civil Surgeon of Palamu, confirming the post delivery death of the woman said that he has set up a probe team to ascertain if her death was due to any lapse or negligence on the part of the health officials at loharsee health centre.
Mishra said he would send a proposal for setting up community health centre at loharsee as the area is remote, medical facilities are scarce and people deserve better health care here. Population of 80,000 is required for a Community Health centre but lOharsee’s population is 50,000. However, Mishra said he would write to the Government to waive this population clause for community health centre here.
Pipra Tarn police described the protest not threatening to law and order situation there but more a public cry for better and effective health care there.
