From Tuesday, the State Government has started selling liquor through shops managed and maintained by their own staff.
In Hazaribagh town six such liquor shops are to be opened. People especially women are looking angry with this decision because all the shops will be in the residential areas.
On the day of inauguration the staffs of these new shops faced tough resistance from the denizens of the area. In Malviya Marg many women and denizens sat on dharna before the shop in the noon and registered their protest. Due to this agitation the shop opened after 2 hours of its scheduled opening time after intervention of police force.
Similar report is coming from Keredari block headquarter where till 6 p.m. the only liquor shop allotted for that place has not started functioning.
