Security and safety of the prisoners in the prisoners’ van, which transport the inmates of the central jail Daltonganj to civil court Daltonganj for attendance in courts is a real pain in neck for the police here, said sources.
Although the distance between the central jail and the civil court Daltonganj is very short nevertheless about half a dozen turns on this stretch of road makes the prisoners’ van extremely vulnerable as on every turn the prisoners’ van gets into a kind of snail’s pace.
SP Palamu Patel Mayur Kanhaiyya lal said the police know this issue and suitable steps will be taken for more security strength of the prisoners’ van. He said a separate force takes care of the prisoners’ van.
Sources said another security hazard is the under trials (UTs) presence in court hajat who are brought in from central jail.
From court hajat these are taken down to various court rooms and are brought back to court hajat for their send off to the central jail again.This stay cum movement cum transportation of under trials is fraught with dangers.
Sources said in court hajat the UTs have fair chances of meeting their kins and here any thing dangerous to peace and law and order may be smuggled in to the UTs
SP Palamu Patel Mayur said a dedicated security force takes care of the court hajat. He said this will be reviewed in the wake of Hazaribag episode where AK 47 was used in a gang war that took the toll of three.
Streams of visitors reach civil court every working day as civil court premise is a public place. And here safety is highly fragile.
Patel Mayur said another dedicated security force keeps an eye on it. Metal detector too has been put in use here. But sources said the frisking of the visitor ( clients etc) leaves much to be desired.
Patel Mayur said all these security arrangements would be reviewed and district judges and other judicial officers suggestions and opinions would be given utmost weight.
On installation of CCTV and Door Frame Metal Detector in the civil court the administration is considering on this line passionately.
