Known as “Babaji” (monk), 64-year-old Pratap Chandra Sarangi has been inducted in the Narendra Modi Council of Ministers. Sarangi is now fondly called as “Odisha’s Modi” in the national Capital.
A diehard RSS member, Sarangi made his maiden entry to Lok Sabha by winning from the Baleswar Lok Sabha seat. Earlier, he had been elected to the State Assembly in 2004 and 2009 from the Nilgiri constituency. He was defeated in the 2014 elections from the Baleswar Lok Sabha seat.
