Taking a strong note of complaints registered by Aam Aadmi Party candidate Dayamani Barla, Election Commission has directed the State administration to ensure adequate security for the candidate during the polls in Khunti and will try to provide equal chance to everyone for exercising their franchise. Jajoria however, denied of receiving any formal complaint from any candidate on the issue.

“Yes we are also getting such reports from various sources but there is no one to confirm any such activity in the area. We have asked the state administration to ensure security for candidates who are facing threats on their lives and maintain law and order during the polls,” said Chief Electoral Officer PK Jajoria.

According to Jajoria, there are adequate security forces to conduct free and fair polls in the state and administration has been asked to take extra precaution on sensible spots.“The Commission is bound to ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to caste his vote during the polls,” Jajoria added.

Barla on the other hand claim to have sent an e- mail to the Chief Electoral Officer on Friday requesting him to postpone the polls in Khunti till law and order is brought under control.

According to Barla, her supporters are being interrupted by armed rebels asking them not to campaign for others.  “I am not concerned about myself; rather I am more concerned about the people’s rights as it is impossible for them to use their franchise under the shadow of guns,” said Barla.

Though, the problem is being faced by other candidates also but they are not raising the issue for unknown reasons, claimed the activist turned politician.
