Ranchi district administration has planned elaborate security arrangement ahead of anti-CAA protest in State Capital on December 30. Ranchi SP (City), Saurabh said, “ As preventive measures there will be elaborate security arrangement in entire Capital City. Large number of police personnel will be deployed at sensitive areas such Daily Market, near Hindpiri area and Iqra Masjid area.”

He said that route of protest march is yet to be finalized till Ranchi district administration grants permission for the protest march. “ Once the route is decided we will go for specific deployment of security personnel at specific locations,”  he added.

Sources said that Ranchi district administration is taking extra precaution on December 30 protest called by various organizations against union government citizenship amendment act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) as various parts of country have witness violent protest over CAA and NRC. However, Ranchi has remained peaceful with no organisations calling protest march against CAA.

However, with regime change, several organizations have planned anti-CAA protests. CM designate Hemant Soren, who led the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress-RJD alliance to a win in the Assembly polls, has said that he had not gone through the details of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The Congress and RJD have openly opposed the CAA and both the parties have even organised protest march against CAA.

The CAA issue was raised by BJP in election in Jharkhand as Prime Minister addressing rallies in Dumka and Barhiat had stated that Congress and its allies, as well as the Left parties, are spreading confusion and violence over the Citizenship Amendment Act. The PM also went out to state that these parties are creating fear among the Muslims in the name of this Act.

The CAA seeks to amend the definition of illegal immigrants for Hindu, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist and Christian immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, who have lived in India without documentation.
