Chhotu Kharwar alias Sujeet Kharwar, Zonal commander of the CPI Maoist had planned a huge savings for his wife lalita Devi but the latehar police aborted his savings plan.
SP latehar Anoop Birtharey said Kharwar got fixed deposit receipts (FDR) in his wife lalita Devi's name And he chose no nationalized bank for this FDRs but relied upon Sahara India of Balumath so as not to draw any suspicion or attention from any quarter. And here his luck ran out.
Birtharey said each of the FDR was worth 19,000 of rupees. These FDRs were of 12 lakhs of cash deposited by this Kharwar through his Man Friday one Oraon.
The SP said the Sahara India accepts cheque and bank draft if the deposit is 20,000 and above. Kharwar was on this safe guarding of his cash worth 15 lakhs right from November 8 when the Prime Minister announced the invalidity of 500 and 1,000 currency notes.
His 12 lakh rupees cash was transformed into FDRs. Three lakh rupees were to be equally dealt with but in came the police and the whole plan of this zonal commander went haywire.
Birtharey said the remaining Rs 3 lakhs were seized. There were more than RS one lakh of cash in the 2,000 denomination note in the bunch of 3 lakhs of rupees.
The FDRs worth 12 lakhs in favour of lalita Devi of this Maoist Chhotu Kharwar stands ' trash' now as police have frozen its operation.
Sources said Balumath manager of Sahara India Chandan Kumar now jailed in latehar will have to explain in the court of law the justification of 12 lakhs coming to him as it is incumbent upon a cash handler to explain the source of cash and here the cash is of a man coming from a banned naxal outfit the CPI Maoist.Birtharey said Maoists also know the money management but here Kharwar's plan just collapsed because latehar police went after this case most peacefully.
Sources said the coming of Sahara India Balumath under the scanner of police eyebrows are being raised over other such financial institutions operating in this range of Palamu.
